CHESS: A Collection Of Poems About Chess

Knight to E5
Why is it a knight?
Why not a horse?
Why is it E5,
and not a 5E?
Why is there a bishop?
Why are these the rules?
Because that's the way it was made, of course!!

The Rook, The Pawn, and Me

The Words of the Chess Game...
The rook is from Persia,
The pawn is from Paon,
And the board is from everywhere,
and sometimes from me!!!

Checkmate!

Why is it called a checkmate?
Why is it called a check?
Does it really cost money,
to end the king's fate?
Or is it that money is the king's mate,
or that he just likes checks,
why does it have to be called a checkmate???
